Trucker Hats

How to Clean a Trucker Hat

Trucker hats combine two very different materials — a structured foam or twill front panel and a breathable mesh back — which means they can get dirty in two very different ways.

The front panel

Foam-front trucker hats can absorb oil and sweat along the sweatband and can be slower to dry than the mesh. Check whether your specific hat's foam is washable before soaking it.

The mesh back

Mesh panels collect dust and grime easily but generally clean up well with a gentle wash, provided the rest of the hat's construction is compatible.

Washing

If your trucker hat's materials are washable and it fits correctly inside a shape protector, machine washing on a cool, gentle cycle inside a structured cage and mesh bag helps protect the front panel's shape and the snapback's structure.

Drying

Air-dry only. Foam panels in particular can hold moisture longer than the rest of the hat, so give it extra time before wearing or storing.
